Thank you so much for this website. It is a great source of information. I have been touched and inspired by the stories I have read. I too suffered a loss due to IC. My daughter, Adriene Janai, was born on July 16th and lived for a week. My IC was diagnosed when I was 19w 6d. I went for my sono and the tech noticed that my cervix was open. I was sent to Labor & Delivery and placed on bedrest in the hospital until I delivered at 24w 1d. I was 5 cn dilated when I was admitted and was told that I couldn't have a cerclage due to bulging membranes. At 23w 1d, I developed an infection and my water broke 3 days later. I was rushed to emergency surgery at 24w 1d because the umbilical cord slid through the birth canal. I am spending my time learning more about cerclages so that I am better informed the next time around. Visit AJ's memorial website to see pics and learn more about her. ajlark.memory-of.com/ Nicole

Nicole, AJ is beautiful! My little guy was born at 24W6D, and he only lived 14 hours and 43 minutes. Where in MD are you? I'm in Montgomery County, right outside of DC.

Hi Vivc,
I live in Severn - about 15 miles south of Baltimore and right next to Ft. Meade. Did you see a specialist for your subsequent pregnancy? Can you recommend him or her?

I'll try to get in touch with her and find out in case she doesn't see this soon.

Sorry - I'm busy these days, so it takes me awhile to notice posts. I see Dr. Thomas Pinckert, of Greater Washington Maternal-Fetal Medicine. He's a maternal-fetal specialist (or perinatologist) specialising in genetics and high risk pregnancies.
He's in Rockville, MD, which is a little ways for you...but I HIGHLY recommend him, as well as his associate, Dr. Gallagher. They're next to Shady Grove Hospital (I don't recommend the hospital!), but they also have privileges at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD.
Their contact info is: 9707 Medical Center Dr #230; Rockville, MD 20850; (301) 279-6060
If Rockville is too far for you, the office staff is very helpful and might be able to recommend someone in Baltimore!
