I have been browsing this website sine I lost my daughter to IC in July. Your site has helped me to have hope that one day I may have the courage to try again. Reading stories of happiness after such grief gives me hope.
There is our lives before July 24 and after July 24. I was 23 weeks pregnant with our first child when I started bleeding and having back pain. I went to my doctor, who performed an ultrasound. She told me I was 4-5cm dilated and my bag of water was bulging. I was admitted to the hospital immediately and contractions soon followed. They were unable to stop them with medications. My doctor told us I was not a candidate for a rescue cerclage. She sent me on to a higher level hospital with a NICU. Nothing worked and I delivered my 1lb.3oz. baby girl. She lived for 4 hours.
I have since seen my "now" perinatologist who recommends 17P injections instead of cerclage if I decide to try again. My OB recommends cerclage only. I haven't seen much about 17P on the message board until recently. Please comment on your experiences to help me.

Hello Ellasmother! My oldest daughter's name is Ella ;D
My story in a shortened way was posted under your, if your intrested.
I tell you I highly reccomend 17 P, and had it with my last pregnancy. I was indused at almost 39 weeks! Im on it again too with my present pregnancy. Im 29 weeks today. I reccomend a cerclage too. I think they work great together. I started at 16 weeks, and go to week 35 with the shots. My cerclage was placed 12-13 weeks along as well. My doctor was so sceptical about 17 P with my last pregnancy, and even reccomended oral progesterone. I gave direct orders I demanded 17 P injections, and my hgh risk doctor latter admitted he was glad I did, and is perscribing it more frequently. I try to spread the news when I can. Hope all is well. If you want to talk, Im here for you. My name is Anne, Im 30 and have been through a lot. Im so sorry for your loss. I pray your healing...

WHOA! 17P instead of cerclage? Don't do it...a friend of mine had diagnosed IC, and she agreed to participate in a study for 17P instead of cerclage. She lost her son to IC anyway.
Insist on the cerclage!

Yeah, insist on a cerclage!! This is the best line of defense, even in combo with other treatments. I'm all for doing both, but a cerclage is a MUST!!
